Italian tourist attractions – where to go in Italy

Travel articles and pictures on places and cities in Italy

Liguria: the Cinque Terre National Park
The Cinque Terre is a tourist destination in Italy not to visit in a hurry to capture the spirituality that prevails along this stretch of land, confined by an uncontaminated sea and rugged mountains. To understand these five, beautiful villages and their territory it is better to leave the car and follow the trails that weave along this part of Levante Riviera in the northern Italian region of Liguria.

Lombardy: hiking in the Alps, Valtellina and Stelvio National Park
Visiting the Valtellina in summer means discover a silent and harmonious world in balance between nature and traditions. A quiet countryside which is an ideal starting point for many excursions to explore the magnificent mountain landscape of the Alps: pastures, forest of fir, larch and pine trees, streams that descend rapidly from alpine glaciers, and wild animals protected in natural reserves and parks.

Sardinia: Alghero and the Coral Riviera
Ancient stone bastions stretch out into the sea. For centuries they protected Alghero, a Catalan enclave on the island of Sardinia. A cultural, naturalistic, archaeological centre, Alghero is also a prime tourist destination with its sea coast, named “Riviera del Corallo” (Coral Riviera).

Tuscany: Siena and San Gimignano
Few lands in Italy are as charming as that of Siena. The colours of the countryside, the soft hills punctuated by tall cypress trees that dot the landscape, all appear to have a precise setting. And the calendar is pre-Gregorian, of the medieval and renaissance age: centuries of faith and reason, sentiments which together have built this wonderful side of Tuscany.

Veneto: Treviso, Valdobbiadene and Asolo
The charm of the past, the architectural wonders, and the land shaped by farms and vineyards distinguish the entire “Marca Trevigiana”, a beautiful territory of  Veneto region, to visit at leisure, allowing oneself many stops to enjoy not only the pleasantness of the countryside but also to taste its many traditional specialties that whet the appetite, such as cheese, radicchio, asparagus, and not to mention its high quality sparkling wine Prosecco.
